Biography & Background:
Born in 1992 in Baoding, China, and now based in Tokyo since 2018, Lin Syouki is a contemporary abstract painter whose evolution in art spans over fifteen years. A graduate of the China Central Academy of Fine Art, he transitioned to abstraction in 2020, focusing on the interplay of form, texture, and light.
Artistic Style & Technique:
Lin’s recent work employs a revolutionary use of reflective fabric—a material traditionally used in sportswear—to create dynamic, three-dimensional canvases. His process begins with sculptural manipulations of the fabric before affixing it to a flat surface, resulting in compositions where geometric forms such as circles and squares interact with spontaneous abstract marks. The reflective quality of the fabric causes the artworks to chang with the viewer’s perspective and ambient light, offering an ever-evolving visual experience.
