Marion Flament

Marion Flament was born in 1989 in Reims, France, and lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the École Boule and the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris (EnsAD), she is a laureate of the Académie du verre Hermès.

She took part in an exchange programme at EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 and continued her research as part of a post-graduate course in interactive lighting at
EnsAD-LAB until 2017. These studies, combining art and scenography, continue to guide her productions today.

She develops her work around the experience of everyday life, observing physical phenomena and sensations linked to our immediate environment in order to question our use of space.

Captivated by the poetic power of gesture, she invites us to encounter her artistic practice and its materiality, echoing its underlying metaphysical resonances, through a unique glass fossil. In her installations and sculptures, Flament seeks to restore something intangible through light. In painting, adding matter, color, means taking away light. However, in the art of stained glass, adding color increases the light. This light does not alter matter but reveals it. The challenge is to find the balance between plastic strength and unseen material, which provokes a unique experience of light, between diffraction and refraction.

Marion Flament creates the material like an alchemist and through it, infuses a sobriety of form which gives way to a highly poetical narration.

Her works will be exhibited in Japan for the first time.
