Yu Maeda, brings a unique perspective to the world of ceramics. After a career in painting, he turned to clay, finding new medium to express his vibrant and imaginative ideas. His sculptures, often featuring fantastical creatures and totemic
forms, are a delightful blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary pop art. By embracing the spontaneity of the clay-forming process, Maeda allows his imagination to run wild. His playful and whimsical creations invite viewers to engage with the natural world in a fresh and imaginative way.

As if recently unearthed with their bright pigments intact, his sculptures combine these organic elements with geometric shapes and bold colors, creating visually striking compositions. His sculptures often evoke a sense of ancient myth and ritual, suggesting a deep connection to the earth and its cycles.
