ELECTRICOLORED WASTELAND is a visceral burst of visual chaos and precision by JJ Zamoranos aka EXLD, blending graffiti roots, Japanese aesthetics, and subconscious fragments into a vibrant collision of narrative and form.

ELECTRICOLORED WASTELAND is a collection of new works by JJ Zamoranos aka EXLD as his graffiti persona. This series, to say the least, is a remarkable revelation of his visual wizardry. Upon closer inspection, the pieces are composed in a collage-like presentation, heavily inspired by Japanese aesthetics, contemporary art, and graphic design elements, solicitously arranged and laid-out cohesively, having a constant phase relationship of images. Influenced by his upbringing, apparently rooting from his extensive graffiti and street art practice and fine art academic background, JJ strategically calculates his intuitively creative work, molding every detail into its uniqueness, letting it take shape to form their own narrative and visual structure.

These pieces are crafted utilizing a plethora of schematics and fragments afloat in his mindscape, repurposing parts of some almost discarded thoughts in his mental clutter, ironically and beautifully assembled into being. In its tangible presence, the audience are allowed to feel the sincerity of his no nonsense approach to the subject. Conjuring figures on a fly without hesitation. Risking the chance of ambiguous consequences. However, trusting the confidence in his mastery of the medium. In his perspective, every single piece is a contemplative process and an opportunity to reflect inwards, to dig within his subconscious. An attempt to bring about something of value and clarity or to implode and spread glorious explosion of visceral chaos or better yet, a concoction of sorts. Filling the ground with debris of objects in a hit-or-miss fashion, these works are just measly sliver of what exists in his mental confinement. Giving us a glimpse into his inner state of pure bedlam and bliss through the windows of his visual virtuosity.

During the opening party, there will be a live painting show in collaboration with Ochiro. After the show, the paintings will be displayed throughout the exhibition.

Ochiro

Born in Mongolia in 1991 and raised in Hokkaido, Ochiro experienced a silent childhood, unable to speak Japanese, which led him to keenly observe others' emotions. This experience later inspired his art, as he seeks to depict the hidden emotions and inner "flames" of people in modern society who often mask their true feelings. His goal is to create vivid, emotionally resonant paintings that invite viewers to engage with them. Last year, Ochiro was selected from 5,400 applicants for the popular "Nobody Knows Akashiya-sanma Gallery" project, marking him as a rapidly rising artist whose work encourages viewers to confront their own emotions.

JJ Zamoranos (EXLD)

JJ Zamoranos, known as "EXLD," is a visual artist based in Manila, Philippines, whose kaleidoscopic work is influenced by skateboarding, pop culture, music, lowbrow art, vinyl toys, Japanese aesthetics, and the DIY ethos. Since 2004, his career has rapidly expanded to include canvas pieces, mural projects, toy designs, and graffiti across Asia, with notable participation in events like HKWALLS and Street Dealin’. EXLD harnesses the ephemeral and rebellious nature of graffiti to challenge traditional art forms, offering viewers a unique insight into his vibrant visual landscape.
