Danilo Kato is an artist and illustrator. born in Brazil and raised in Japan, his works reflects a strong influence on both cultures. After starting his career as a graphic designer, today he pursues his passion as an independent professional.

Kato;s work constantly moves between themes such as love, death, nature and spirituality. The supernatural, mysterious and dreamlike stories had always attracted him; that's why he started he Japanese demons and monsters playing cards project.

Gathering imageries of yōkai, deities, historical figures and monsters from stories Kato used to read and hear since he was a child, the goal of this deck of cards was to show how vast the world of Japanese folklore is - and to mix it in the design of the cards, like the characters are playing it; because, after all, they can be scary, but there's somewhat picturesque and humor in them as well.

魑魅魍魎 (chimi-mōryō) means "all the demons and monsters" in Japanese.
