Béchir Boussandel

Born in 1984 in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, Béchir Boussandel lives and works between Paris (France) and Tunis (Tunisia). As a graduate of the Art College of Dunkerque (France), Béchir Boussandel explores the multiple layers of a moving painting, it is first of all a questioning of the perspective which finds its expression on the canvases. Disrupting the conventional relationship to the horizon, the artist deploys a bird’s eye view on surfaces whose materiality has both an earthly and astral aspect.  From these magmatic depths emerge isolated elements which, without ever meeting, establish a frontal dialogue through the works. Freed from any space-time anchorage, these singular miniatures intrigue and signify both personal reminiscences and symbolic transpositions. In a constant tension between figuration and abstraction, Béchir Boussandel’s work engages a continuous questioning of the displacement of beings on and through unstable territories.
