Maya Nukumizu

Maya Nukumizu was born in 1982 in Kyoto. Lives and works in Tokyo.
Formerly graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design, Graduate School of Art and Design, Department of Art Expression. Based on the manga culture that has strongly influenced her since childhood, Maya Nukumizu expresses the infinite number of protagonists in the world in a positive manner.
He freely depicts the joys and sorrows of living in a chaotic age. In addition to presenting his works in Japan and abroad, he is active in a wide range of tivities, including participating in art fairs and doing artwork for Japanese idol groups.
Maya was born and raised in the mountains of Kyoto, and moved to Tokyo in 2012 to begin her creative endeavors. While she feels somewhat alienated from the city of Tokyo, she finds joy in her life here. Kyoto has many old temples, and it is important to preserve the culture, whereas in Tokyo cutting-edge facilities are being built one after another. After all, people who want to express themselves gather in Tokyo and can meet, so she thinks there is a lot of opportunity for them to influence each other's work and receive inspiration. Also, there are stresses because there are too many people, but she feels comfortable in the dry atmosphere of Tokyo, where she is left alone. There weren't many people where Maya was born and raised, so when she came to Tokyo and saw all the people crowded together, the direction of my work changed.
