Born in Tokyo in 1983. Through motifs from the natural world such as flowers, leaves, butterflies, and bees, Mona Sugata explores the cycles of life and the invisible connections between living beings.
For Mona, creating is an act of listening closely to the small lives that fill the world and giving form to their echoes. Working across painting, sculpture, and installation, she creates landscapes where people and nature, memory and imagination intersect.
Their works serve as spaces for sharing landscapes and sensations with the viewer, exploring moments when we encounter the fundamental memories and sensations that we all share.
