It's difficult to feel the history of the city in the same way as in Europe. Many of the historical buildings have disappeared due to fires, natural disasters and wars. However, after actually living in a historical European city, I was finally able to look at Tokyo without any preconceived ideas. And I realised that my own style of painting was similar to Tokyo's. Repeating the process of resetting over and over again, they don't hesitate to keep building new things, and they repeat destruction and revival, leaving behind remnants of history in the form of broad areas and town names. As I spend more time in Japan from now on, I will discover more aspects of Tokyo. This kind of structure is similar to the work of the kind of painter I would like to be.
