Supper Club - Ousmane Ba and Karyn Zialor
On the evening of June 4th, we had a wonderful evening with another edition of the Supper Club with artists Ousmane Ba and Chef Karyn Zialor. We would like to thank all of the guests who attended and showed their support not only for Ousmane and Karyn but for the KURA as well.
We had guests of different backgrounds come together, and we hope that everyone had a great opportunity to meet and converse with others around them.
At the start of the evening, Ousmane had a short talk about his most recent project in Senegal. At a village near the Senegal River, where the people based their livelihood on the river, Ousmane began making paper with the plants that grow in the river. Inspired by the Japanese Washi paper, Ousmane spoke about how he hopes to evolve his work further with this new paper and to create more work incorporating the connections between culture and art.
From there, Chef Karyn dished out her first course. With the supper started and in full swing, Karyn made five delicious courses inspired by Seychellois cuisine. This included plantain chips, fish, and other ingredients that were staples in making a hearty, healthy meal.
To conclude the night, full of wine, art, and many other discussions, Karyn served an amazing dessert of coconut-based cake, lime shaving, cream, and warm vanilla tea straight from the Seychelles.
Once again, thank you to everyone who made this night possible, and we hope you come back for our other upcoming Supper Clubs. If you would like more information, you can join our KURA Members list and get an invitation to all the coming exclusive events.
